Since 2005, the Supreme Court under the leadership of Chief Justice John
Roberts has moved steadily to the right. In this class we will discuss the
Court’s landmark decisions on voting rights, affirmative action in college
admissions, gun control, campaign finance laws, freedom of speech, religious
practice, sexual autonomy, same sex marriage and abortion rights. With few
exceptions, these decisions have impacted and will continue reshaping our
daily lives for years to come.

In light of these seismic events, the American public, Congress and the media
are watching the Court more critically than ever. Is the time now ripe to
impose substantive changes on the Court? Term limits? Packing the Court? A
binding and enforceable Code of Ethics? Changing how nominees are
selected and confirmed? All political persuasions are welcome to this class.
We have much to discuss and debate.
